May Extras

With the start of warm weather in May, both of my boys took the liberty of shedding some layers. Josh said he wanted to be more like Uncle Steven, who never wears a shirt, but I think Jude just really loved showing off his big boy underwear for a day. (Because that's as long as it lasted -- a day. Mamma needs more time and energy before we can tackle potty-training for real.)

Still, Jude found it hard to break the habit of turning on the fireplace to read books. 

Jude and I went to the museum one day to buy an annual pass. We LOVE all the flowers they plant here in the warm months! It's like everyone is celebrating the sunshine every chance they get before winter comes back!

Josh finished up preschool in May. Here he is with his sweet teacher Mrs. Moore. She was very good for him these last two years. And even though they became good friends, he's still too girl-shy to take a normal picture with her.

The end of school meant the early start of our summer. The boys have been really helpful and fun at home these last few months. Here are some pictures from May. (We'll get to June later.)

We got to watch my friend's baby for a couple days, and the boys just loved it. Maybe a little too much...

Josh had a visit with the dentist, and before he got this cool eye patch from the Treasure Chest, they told us he was going to need a small filling soon. To my surprise, he was not at all worried about his cavity, and went through with the procedure (last week) not needing any numbing or laughing gas at all. He's getting so brave.

Matt's co-worker got us this giant game of Sequence, which kept Josh busy for a good week.

Earning lots of cool-dad and cool-youth-leader points, Matt showed us how to shoot bottle rockets in the backyard. It's a good thing we have some space back there because those babies shot at least a hundred feet into the air!

This is the day they discovered kitchen utensils could be used as weapons. It's been a daily "toy" ever since. They're such boys!

Okay, this one might be my favorite too. Both favorites. Like cherry and grape.
