Two months ago, our family left Midland for good. It was a sad day, but I'm grateful it was too busy to dwell on those feelings. Our friend James drove us all to the airport early in the morning, because our cars were already on their way to Seattle. We survived two layovers with the kids and met my mom at the Sacramento airport. Saint Sara took them home to Redding for a few days, while Matt and I caught a flight to Seattle to find a place to live. We missed our fun little people, especially this little piggy with the apple in her mouth. But it was nice to remember what it's like to just be a couple, even in the chaos of full-speed house hunting.
To us, being a couple means eating at grown up restaurants and savoring every amazing bite without interruption. It means walking downtown late at night because we can. It means wandering through a fancy furniture store without worrying about somebody breaking things, wondering if there will ever be a time when such nice things could live in our house. And then stopping to look at pictures and videos of our kids because we like them more than furniture. Even more than this root beer and pizza from Serious Pie.
Back at my parents' house, my little niece Elsie arrived to keep Adele company. We loved getting all these picture messages on our trip.
While they were all doing baby things, we were learning that Seattle is going to be very exciting for our taste buds...

...and very hard on our bank account! We decided that the rain isn't so bad when you're coming from horrible, bone-chilling snow. And eventually, the very last day, we found a house to rent! All it took was raising our budget (a lot) to find what we needed, exactly where we needed it. This baby sits on a hill in a neighborhood called Queen Anne.
