Chicago, here we come??

I am proud to announce that my amazingly wonderful talented smokin' hot genius of a husband has been accepted to the University of Chicago Booth School of Business!

He won't tell you this himself, but Chicago's is the number one MBA program in the world right now. It is such an awesome opportunity! However, the tuition is crazy expensive. We're talking $100,000 of debt easily.

Matt has also been accepted to Arizona State University here in Tempe. He was offered a partial scholarship and a graduate assistantship there, so we really wouldn't have to take out loans at all. Plus we would be close to family, friends, and the place that Matt wants to settle down some day.

There are definitely pros and cons for each school so we have a lot to think about in making a decision. It is great to have options and we're excited to start the next phase of our life! We'll let you know when we have a solid plan.

Patty-cake

The other day, Matt and I got the urge to make a cake for our friend's baby shower. It's a fun creative outlet for us and it's a project we can do together. I think we agreed that this one is in our top two. I was a little obsessed with its cuteness -- I opened the fridge about a hundred times yesterday just to look at it! The only sad part is I forgot to take a picture of it before I left for the shower, so I'll have to settle for cell-phone-camera quality in my scrapbook. (The top picture shows the front of the cake and the picture below shows the back.)

In other news:
Josh got his first top tooth yesterday! That makes three altogether now. He is having fun exploring how they click together when he closes his jaw, and all week he has been biting everything in sight. Look out world!

Grandma, we miss you!

My family lives too far away from Josh -- fourteen hours by car. Since we moved here, we have managed to visit them three times due to weddings and holidays, but it's just not enough. Especially when this sweet little boy is changing so fast.

So, every time I talk to my mom, she tells me to pack Josh up in a box and send him to her through the mail. Matt decided to set up this picture yesterday to mock the poor woman.

Josh didn't seem too excited about this idea at first...

... but I think he lightened up when we told him he was going to Grandma's house.

Miss you Grandma! We can't wait to see you in six weeks!

Good Eats

Matt and I love to watch the Food Network. Trying new recipes is really fun for us, and we'll take any excuse to experiment with big fancy cakes (weddings, birthdays, baby showers, holidays). It's a good creative outlet and it's something we like to do together. Seriously -- I don't even have to force Matt to help. New recipes and new kitchen gadgets are usually HIS idea! If we ever need to go to Bed Bath & Beyond, I have to wait until I'm in the mood to spend a looooong time shopping, because getting Matt to leave that culinary wonderland is a real task!

But of all the hobbies he could have, I'm so glad he is a chef. What can I say...my husband is totally awesome.

Currently, we have about 85 episodes of Good Eats recorded on our DVR. (Matt likes to save them all just in case.) Recently, we've hit the jackpot on new recipes that are delicious and not too much work. Here are some Good Eats favorites:

Curried Split Pea Soup
Leek Potato Soup
Baked Macaroni and Cheese
"Instant" Pancake Mix
French Toast
Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

We love new recipes, but I hate deciding what to make for dinner. I'd love to hear any of your favorites -- please share!!!

It's the middle of February already??

No time to catch up right now, but here is the most recent picture of our little man. He is growing up so fast lately, it's scary! A lot has been going on recently around here, so as soon as I get some time I'll give a better update. For now, just know that we love you all and enjoy reading about you on your fun web sites. Cheers!
