Grandma Snow and Aunt Stephy Visit

Matt's mommy and sister decided to come visit us last weekend and help celebrate my birthday! We had a great few days together, even with the cold weather limiting our choice of activities. I really wanted to show off Chicago to them, but in the frigid winter, whatcha gonna do? We managed to have a good time anyway. Plus, we all know they REALLY came to see Josh.

(I'm really sad about the poor quality of these pictures. My good camera was out of battery.)

After picking them up from the airport on Thursday, we went straight to Giordano's for some Chicago deep dish pizza. Never a disappointment! On Friday we hit up the Museum of Science and Industry for a couple of short hours between Matt's morning interview and his afternoon class. We also ate at Potbelly's, our FAVORITE sandwich place ever. It's simply the best.

Josh gave Aunt Stephy a lesson on how to drive the tractor.

This tractor had wheels that were almost as tall as Matt!

My handsome boys in the circus exhibit

I caught Josh right in the middle of a big yawn as he snuggled up with Grandma. So precious!

Here he is climbing on the big numbers in the Willis Tower. They say "103" for the number of floors you pass on the way to the observation level. We had to take Cheri and Steph to the top for the sake of tourism. It's a great way to see the city, and it helps that it's a nice indoor activity.

In case you can't read this, it says "...the tower is 262 Michael Jordans tall." Looks like it's just about that many Matts and Stephanies, too! ...And quite a bit more Mimis.

Craziest part of Chicago so far:  The FROZEN LAKE! Seriously, if you can't tell, that big white expanse out there is not snow. It's ICE. Chunks and sheets of ice floating around in the lake. It's like we live in Antarctica or something! There should be penguins running wild around here!

As you can see, Josh still loves the Ledge. Not scared one bit.

Don't have a heart attack! There's glass in this picture saving Josh from a 103-story free fall. This is one of his favorite spots in the tower. All three times we've been up there, he finds this spot where there's an edge for his feet to hang off and he can lean right up against the glass. It's pretty scary looking.

Another Zoolander face by our little male model.

You can never have enough of these pictures. (Here ya go Cheri, I posted a gross one of myself to make up for the sleeping picture at Christmas. All is forgiven?)

This is becoming a common face at the dinner table. It's a cross between shaking his head "no" and having a complete hyper spaz-out of silliness. Sooooo entertaining to watch!

For my birthday dinner, I didn't have to cook one tiny bit. The Snows made me some delicious chicken pot pie and brownies. Yummm!!! Grandma and Aunty, thanks so much for coming out! We loved having you and miss you already!

Its always fun to have visitors, especially those two! Glad you guys had a good time even in the cold. You would think I would get more visitors with sunny CA weather!
