Matt's mom came to visit us in Midland a couple weeks ago. One of the highlights of the week was the evening we went BLUEBERRY PICKING at a local farm. Josh had loads of fun. And when he's excited, everyone else is too!
After a while, Josh learned to only pick the big blue ones. He was very careful to follow the rules...but still, somehow when we got home, our box of pickings had a bunch of grass and green berries in it. Yum.
So strong!
At first, he wasn't interested in eating them. He'd stick one in his mouth and spit it right back out whole. Finally Matt broke one open before giving it to Josh so he could taste the flavor right away. After that, he went a little crazy. He would sit over the bucket like this shoveling handfuls into his mouth at a time! I'm afraid our group actually consumed a lot more berries than we paid for.
Matt pulled a little trick with the blueberries that started out looking pretty innocent like this. But soon enough...
...he ended up like this. The blueberry scarecrow of crazytown.
Josh thought it was pretty funny and decided to try sticking some berries up his own nose. Great idea, Daddy. NOT.

We came home with almost 8 pounds of blueberries for $12. Deliciously inexpensive...my favorite! We've already made two blueberry sour cream pies (Grandma's favorite) and a bunch of smoothies. We'll be back soon.

Hahaha! The blueberry scarecrows! Those blueberries look delicious. I can not believe you got 8 lbs for $12. That seems like a good 6 months supply. Holy cow!! Does it get any better than that??? Linc and the kids would go nuts!
That was such a fun time. I hope Josh doesn't remember the blueberry in the nose trick and try it with other things...
What are the other plans for the berries? Blueberry ice cream sounds fab. So does blueberry syrup. I don't know how to make these things, but they SOUND good.
Sarah, your ideas are GENIUS! I can't believe we didn't think of blueberry ice cream when we already have a perfectly wonderful tried-and-true recipe for it! Got the ingredients for it last night. Yummmmm. Thanks!
