Singstar Dance Party

A couple weeks ago, we hosted a "House Party" for a new Playstation3 game called Singstar Dance. If you don't know what House Party is, and you like free stuff, prepare to learn something awesome! Go to houseparty.com, fill out a few surveys, and apply to host parties for all different kinds of new products that companies want to promote. If you're lucky, they'll select you for a good one!

For example, we first heard about this through a friend who hosted a Digiorno Pizza party, in which the company sent them a bunch of FREE pizza vouchers, plates, napkins, etc. to throw a party promoting their newest delicious products. For our party, they sent us about $200 worth of PS3 equipment (for FREE!), the new game (not even released yet), paper goods, soda vouchers, and a Subway gift card (can't explain that one) just so we'd invite our friends over to play the game and see how awesome it is.

And it is pretty awesome. It's like the Wii for PS3. It's like a combination of karaoke and Dance Dance Revolution without the annoying foot pads. There's a little camera you put on the TV that senses the movement of your whole body as you follow the dance moves on the screen, so it judges REAL dance moves! It's really fun for all ages. Especially when people get a little competitive. Like spouses. And man friends.

There were a LOT of kids in our teeny little apartment that night! But let's face it...everything is more fun when little kids start shakin' it to Sir Mix-a-lot.

Most of these friends live in our building and go to our church. How lucky is that?!

I know what you're thinking....Preggos should be dancing in the spotlight much more often. I wonder if Lady Gaga could think of some flattering stage costumes for us.

For some reason the guys all really enjoyed learning the dances from Nsync and the Backstreet Boys. I keep telling them it's not too late to start their own boy band after business school. Wouldn't want anyone to feel like they missed their calling.

We were lucky enough to have some wonderful friends stay afterward and serenade us with the guitar and their lovely voices. We might make a new party rule -- someone must be playing the real guitar at all times. There's just too much talent among these friends to keep it hidden.

And here are the love birds, enjoying their alone time together after everyone else left, playing quietly in Josh's room with the door closed. I had to sneak up on them so as not to disturb the romantic silence.

Anyway, House Party is totally cool. Check it out. And come over to play our new game, because it's much more fun with a bunch of people, rather than me playing by myself in my bathrobe while Josh naps.
