Grandma Snow Visit

Last week, we had a very lovely visitor.

Not the stegosaurus. Grandma Snow!! Matt's mom came to stay with us Monday through Friday while her hubby was supposed to be in California for work. Turns out his trip was canceled, but we were lucky enough to get Grandma anyway!

Grandma is not accustomed to cold weather, being an Arizona girl, but she was brave enough to venture out with us to the Field Museum. It turned out to be a lovely day in which Josh got to ride the Metra train, run like a crazy person through the museum halls, and act overly enthusiastic about everything on display. The line of the day was, "Whoa, look at that! That's HUUUUUGE!!"

In honor of Aunt Michelle, our future Egyptologist, we made sure to visit the Ancient Egypt exhibit.

Josh is quite the expert on old Egyptian currency after playing with this scale forever.

But there's no question that his favorite part of the museum was pushing every single red button in sight. Never mind the enormous triceratops skeleton or the giant woolly mammoth -- he just wanted to get to those buttons.

And of course, while Grandma was here, we dined like royalty. She had been waiting for Giordano's deep dish pizza for a whole year since her last visit. We were not disappointed to take her there.

We introduced her to our favorite Mexican place ever, Nuevo Leon. Seriously, Matt says it's the best he's ever had. And we're not even close to Mexico.

And of course, we showed her what a real Chicago hot dog is like. Portillo's is the place. I go for the chocolate cake shakes. And they have pretty much the only drive-thru I know of downtown.

For her last night here, we had a few friends over for a little impromtu PS3 dance party and pizza. Things are always exciting with this gang of munchkins.

Come back anytime, Grandma! Josh notices when you're gone and he does not like it one bit.
